FREE ASTHMA CLASSES AND CLINIC

Asthma classes are designed from the National Institute of Health (NIH) guidelines.  The classes help to decrease emergency room visits, hospitalizations, and missing work or school.  The classes help the participants have a better understanding of asthma and it also helps the participants to better communicate their asthma needs to their primary care physician.

COMBINATION CLASS
Content is for families with pediatric age children.

ADOLESCENT/ADULT CLASS
Content is for families with adolescent children and adults.

ONE-ON-ONE CLASS  -  Call for Appointment
Content same as Combination or Adolescent/Adult  Classes. Set up an      appointment with our Asthma Educator to teach you or your family on an      individual basis.

COMBINATION CLASS - CONTENT
The Combination class is offered one Saturday per month.  This class is an overview of asthma, triggers, and asthma medications.  The literature and handouts include information taught in class and are given to class participants.  Free equipment (peak flow meter and spacer) is provided for the participants.  Technique on the use of this equipment is demonstrated in class. 

ADOLESCENT/ADULT CLASS - CONTENT
The Adolescent/Adult class is designed for ages 13 years through adult.  It is an overview of asthma, triggers, and medications.  The class also includes the effects of pregnancy interaction of specific foods, over-the-counter medication, as well as prescription drugs, and medical conditions that may affect asthma.  Literature and handouts are provided for the participants.  Free equipment (peak flow meter and spacer) is provided for the participants. Technique on use of the equipment is demonstrated in class.

ASTHMA CLINIC
The clinic is open to all ages.  The clinic participants are evaluated or screened for asthma by either a pulmonologist or an asthma/allergy specialist.
